Geometric Embroidery on Denim
Join us to learn the art of embroidery and embellish a garment from your wardrobe with hand stitching. In this workshop we’ll learn the rich tradition of Spanish Work or Blackwork Embroidery from its roots in 15th century Europe to this modern twist on denim.
Students will bring a pair of jeans or denim jacket and learn to embellish their item with gorgeous, geometric embroidery patterns. This class is suited to beginners and experienced stitchers.
Included in class fee:
Three hours of instruction
Sashiko thread in students’ choice of color
Written handout with instructions to take home
In class use of quilting ruler, erasable marking tools and other notions
Variety of example pieces and stitch samplers to inspire your creativity
About the instructor
Amanda McLaurin is a fiber artist, designer and teacher. In her workshops she teaches the art of embroidery, mending and sewing to adults and kids. She lives on Camano Island and teaches workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as on the road.
