Beginning Hawaiian Applique Pillow Top Feb 16th 2020
Learn how to cut a snowflake Hawaiian quilt design, baste it to your background fabric and needle-turn applique. Choose a design from Elizabeth Root's Hawaiian Quilting book. These simple yet elegant designs will give you plenty of practice with concave and convex curves and points. We will not get to sandwiching or echo quilting. I will schedule another class to follow.
Other Supplies to bring:
Everything on the list is available at Indigo Stitch
- Your best pointed cloth and paper scissors. It is very important to have sharp scissors with a good point as you will be cutting through 8 layers of cloth at once and need to cut into small curves. Micro-serrated scissors work really well.
- pins
- thimble if you use one
- Your favorite appliqué thread that matches your applique; I recommend 80 wt. cotton.
- Applique needles: I recommend Roxanne's appliqué needles, #11 straw needles, or Clover Black gold #9 applique needles.
- Bring a sandwich or something for lunch. We will provide tea, coffee, and snacks.
